Talent I wish I had: To be better at cooking
I have worked at HKScan for over 20 years, my main responsibilities now include helping to supervise all department related issues: staffing, product quality and machinery issues.
In my department wellbeing and safety are very important because we work with and near industrial machinery. I help to make sure that we have calibrated the machines which makes sure we are delivering the right quality to our customers.
Taking care of hygiene and quality
We also have guidelines to make sure we have a hygienic working environment. For this we wear very specific safety clothing. It is also very important in my role to know how to handle meat in the correct way and because of this I fill out forms daily to document the department’s hygiene levels.
A typical day for me starts very early, at around 5:30am. I talk to my leaders about the tasks of the day or any important issues and then I begin by checking the quality of products and the deliveries. I then talk to my team and ensure that everything is running smoothly and iron out any logistic details we need to go over.
Daily development motivates
I have good leaders who I can always approach to get help with different work issues. I also belong to a good team, we help each other a lot. We have a system where we write suggestions for improvements about many different things and these are often implemented. We also have daily board meetings where key people in the department gather to discuss important matters and what we could do to improve.
I have worked here for many years ad what I find interesting is how it is a changing business: customer needs, production processes and even the machinery changes!
I am very happy here at HKScan, in the future I would like to develop my computer skills especially with Excel and hopefully become an even better assistant supervisor.
