HKScan is to start exporting pork from Finland to South Africa. The export is expected to begin in early 2024, once the necessary plant approval for the export has been obtained for HKScan’s Forssa unit. The export approval for Finnish pork obtained today is another step forward for the company’s exports.
HKScan currently exports pork to, e.g., China and South Korea, Japan and the USA. There are plans to export grilled meats such as pork ribs to South Africa.
“The authorities in Finland have been very supportive of the domestic food industry's export efforts. This new export licence is much awaited and welcomed. My warmest thanks to all those who have been involved in making this happen," says Juha Ruohola, CEO of HKScan.
Finnish pork is responsibly produced. Finland has an excellent animal disease situation and animal welfare. In addition, environmental efficiency of production is taken into account at all stages.
