Goal-oriented responsibility programme: Food that does good

The targets of HKFoods’ responsibility programme relate to the wellbeing of nature and people: to climate, packaging, biodiversity and the safety and wellbeing of employees.

In 2022, a commitment to increasing biodiversity in the company's long food chain was added to the programme.
Other key responsibility themes for the company include animal welfare, healthy and safe food and a competitive farmer community. These themes are promoted within the Business Units as they are subject to local regulation and stakeholder expectations vary across markets.

Environment

Our environmental work is guided by our aim to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, promote biodiversity and advance circular economy and recyclability of packaging. We strive to reduce our environmental impact throughout our entire value chain together with our contract producers and other partners. An important task for us is to help our contract farms producing meat to reduce their emissions and other impacts on nature.

People

As a significant employer, promoting the occupational safety and well-being of nearly 3,000 HKFoods employees is the foundation of our social responsibility. We care deeply about ensuring that our employees can work safely, enjoy their work and find it meaningful. In addition, there are 2,000 Finnish contract producers, who produce the safe and high-quality raw materials for us, and we want to develop the competitive and socially sustainable producer community for them. We also ensure the personal health of consumers and end-users by providing tasty, high-quality food that is safe and supportive of well-being.
